My Partner Won’t Have Sex with Me & I Don’t Know What to Do!

I hear this complaint often as a therapist who specializes in sex, intimacy, and relationships. It is often expressed with panic, sadness, and/or anger; sometimes with hopelessness. They feel lost, their partner feels lost and they come to me for help. They want to know why this is happening and how to change it.

Underneath the panic, sadness, anger, and hopelessness is a need and desire to physically connect with their beloved. To be skin to skin, to feel the passion they once felt, to be desired. We as humans are wired for connection: emotional and physical. When we lose this, we may find ourselves feeling isolated and frustrated. The relationship may feel incomplete. It can be incredibly painful to experience.

What if I told you that you are not alone, that there is hope?

This is what my friend, Robyn D’Angelo and I discussed in our interview on “How to Love Your Sexually Unavailable Partner” for her upcoming online interview series. We discuss what it may look like, what may be going on and ways you can begin the process now to reconnect with your partner.
